ReLEx® SmileLaser eye surgery Turkey – ReLEx SMILE Contemporary, painless ReLEx® SMILE eye lasers
ReLEx® SMILE is the most innovative form of laser eye surgery and the first painless, minimally invasive laser eye procedure. When correcting with the ReLEx-SMILE eye laser, the cornea remains intact apart from a tiny cut of 2 – 3 mm. Numerous studies show that gentle laser eye surgery with ReLEx® SMILE is superior to LASIK and Femto-LASIK in terms of safety and stability of the eye and has fewer side effects. It is even suitable for patients with greater ametropia, thinner corneas or dry eyes. For this reason, it is our No. 1 laser eye procedure for patients with contact lens problems.

ReLEx SMILE – costs, risks and operational sequence
The ReLEx SMILE procedure (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) is one of the latest laser eye methods. It has been approved in Germany since 2008 and was taught by Prof. Dr. Walter Secondo and Prof. Dr. Marcus Blum developed in cooperation with Carl Zeiss Meditec AG. The procedure has since established itself worldwide: In 2017, more than 10 percent of all global laser operations to correct ametropia were performed using the SMILE method.

ReLEx SMILE – application and suitability
ReLEx SMILE laser eye surgery is used to correct astigmatism and nearsightedness (myopia). It is a particularly gentle and painless further development of the LASIK method. For this reason, ReLEx SMILE is particularly suitable for patients with a high degree of ametropia or with very dry eyes, for whom other surgical procedures are out of the question.

ReLEx SMILE treatment: procedure during and after the operation
The femtosecond eye laser works inside the cornea. A small piece of the cornea (lenticle) is dissected and removed through the incision opening. The eponymous technical term for this process is “Refractive Lenticle Extraction” – ReLEx for short. The ametropia is then corrected. Usually the process takes about five minutes per eye.

After this minimally invasive procedure, those treated are hardly restricted. The vision of the affected eye may still be somewhat impaired in the first few hours. Nevertheless, everyday activities such as showering or playing sports can be carried out again quickly. The success of the treatment can usually be assessed the next day and the desired refractive power of the eye established. The subtleties can still emerge within the next few weeks.
