Phakic Intraocular Lens Treatment

Although laser treatment is the gold standard method all over the world to get rid of glasses, it cannot be applied to every patient. There may be various reasons for this. Among the most common reasons, the eye defect is very high, and the corneal tissue to which we will apply the laser is thin or weak. The method we use in such cases is called “phakic intraocular lens application”. In this technique, I mostly prefer the lens called Visian ICL.

Visian ICL application is an outpatient treatment. Surgical treatment takes 7-12 minutes and is applied under drop anesthesia (without injection). The operation is painless and we follow up our patients in our clinic for the first 4-6 hours after the treatment. For the treatment of the second eye, a period of 1-7 days should pass, depending on the recovery status or preference of our patients. During treatment, ICL is placed in the space between the iris and the lens, called the posterior chamber.

Very In many of our patients, the visual level and contrast sensitivity are above the level with glasses or contact lenses.
The most important advantage of ICL treatment is that it is reversible. In case of any problem, the placed lens can be removed.

In Which Eyes ICL Can Be Applied?

• ICL treatment successfully corrects -3.00 to -18.00 diopters of myopia, 6 diopters of astigmatism, and 10 diopters of hyperopia between the ages of 21-45.
• The anterior chamber size of the eye should be at least 2.8 mm.
• Eye pressure disease, uncontrolled diabetes, pregnancy should not be.
• The procurement of ICL, which is specially produced for each patient, takes between 1 and 8 weeks.
